PROPERTIES: Our basil contains 70-72% methyl cavicol and 15-18% linalool. Warm spicy and herbal with a hot somewhat licorice/anise undertone. Blends well with most other herbs and also with lavender, geranium, bergamot, lime, lemon, frankincense neroli, and pine.
THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cephalic, digestive, emmenagogue, febrifuge, nervine, tonic.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:Avoid throughout pregnancy, and if you have very sensitive skin. Use in small amounts, no more than 2% in carrier oil and avoid prolonged use.
FOLK MEDICINE: It works as a brain and memory stimulant and soothes stress, depression and mental fatigue. It is indicated for urinary infections, rheumatoid arthritis and insufficient digestive enzymes. Good for tired overworked muscles and as a mouthwash for mouth sores and infected gums, for chest infections and digestive problems.
